EXPLANATION OF THE CVV2 CODE (Card
Verification Value 2)
On all the Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard and CB-cards, the 3 last
digits on the reverseside have to be obligatory transmitted to the operator.
This will be applicable starting from the 1st of October
2001 for each transaction.
They are on the strip next to the
signature, at the backside of the card.
You will find:
- Or the whole cardnumber followed by the 3 additional digits.
- Or only the end of the cardnumber followed by the 3 additional digits.
In all cases, your CVV2-code consists of these 3 additonal digits. You
will have to fill this in the last field of the securised payment form.
NO VISA, EUROCARD/MASTERCARD AND CB PAYMENTS
WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT THESE DIGITS.
This will avoid all fraudulent use of your card in case the defrauder has
your cardnumber and expiry date (for ex.: theft of a ticket or a sales-voucher,
etc...).
The CVV2-code is never printed on any
document.
To this day, the other type of cards (American Express,
Diners Club and JCB) don't use this system, so you can leave this field empty.
